AHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I QUESTION THE JUDGEMENT OF ANYONE WHO SAYS THIS BOOK ISN'T GOOD. YOU'RE INCORRECT.

Okay, enough screaming. I finally got my first book of the year done (IN MARCH), and I'm SO glad it was this one. I've been hearing how good this book is by how popular it is, and IT LIVES UP TO THE HYPE. Kai and Paedyn make me go FERAL, and the plot in general is just so interesting, easy to follow, and hard to put down. I even found myself getting really invested in the FIGHT scenes, which is uncommon for me because normally I find them really confusing, but all the fights and killings in this book are so good.
ESPECIALLY ACE, I COULD NOT STAND THAT MAN. I WAS SO SCARED HE WAS GONNA BE ONE OF THE FINAL PEOPLE, THANK GOD HE GOT OUT OF THERE EARLY.
I was also pleasantly surprised that it was DUAL POV???? YES???? THANK YOU, GODSEND LAUREN ROBERTS.

I also really loved seeing Paedyn's relationships with Lenny, Kitt, and even Adena. Lenny feels like an older brother kind of relationship, which I absolutely love seeing, and I love that she and Kitt have a genuine friendship with minimal attraction (at least, that's what it SEEMED like to me. I'm not entirely buying the "girl he grew to want" line at the end, it's plausible, but I think it's a little questionable).
I SHOULD'VE EXPECTED THEM TO KILL OFF ADENA, BUT I DIDN'T. IT WAS SO SHOCKING. I SOBBED. ESPECIALLY AFTER JAX ALMOST DIED AND THEN GOT HEALED, BUT SHE DIDN'T???
AND EVERY SINGLE PLOT TWIST WAS SO OBVIOUS AND STILL CAUGHT ME OFF-GUARD.

Literally my only criticism of this book was that the first Trail could've been cut down SIGNIFICANTLY. Absolutely LOVE the Kai-Pae bonding time, the Trial itself just got kind of tedious. Especially since all the other Trails were SO SHORT in comparison. It just went on a little too long, and the story would've benefited by cutting it down. Maybe even left out like 20, 30 pages, idk. There were also a couple of lines that I PERSONALLY would not have kept in the book if I had written it, but it didn't really affect the story in any negative way.

Overall, SPECTACULAR book. I LOVE IT SO SO SO MUCH!!! GO READ IT!!!
