My first book from this author. It’s a nice light read, a cozy mystery set in 1830s. There’s not so much deduction but just a lot of speculation and the protagonist chasing after every thin thread of a lead. Reminds me a bit of Thistlewood Manor series where the protagonist was running around accusing everyone and being wrong until she got the right person.
A bit of a romance but not much, just enough to be interesting. I would like to see more of Miss Morton and Dr. Harris, I think they make an interesting couple. I’d like to see Lord Chatham pining though, just ‘cause.
I didn’t see anything regarding the “suspicious” death of Miss Morton’s father (Earl of Morton), but maybe it’ll be one of those long arcs that’ll come after?
I’d recommend for a light read.
