The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

5.0

I was up until almost midnight finishing this book (well 11:54pm to be precise, which is kind of freaky because that time has a significance in the book) and I LOVED it. As soon as I heard about a book being described as a cross between Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, and the Salem Witch Trials, I immediately wanted a piece of it. It was one of my most anticipated books of the year. Thankfully it didn’t let me down. I feel like lately some books I have been excited for have been soooo overhyped and I ended up finding them mediocre at best, so this was a pleasant surprise and came at a perfect time. I was in a bit of a reading slump, having gone through a stint of reading some books I had trouble getting in to. This changed it all and I didn’t want to put it down. The author did a wonderful job of creating such an eerie atmosphere and I could perfectly envision this sleepy seaside town. It was everything I hoped it would be and more, and I loved every second of it.
