The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
4.0
This is me reading this book after around 8 years.

No, you all don't understand how much my younger self loved this book. I don't even remember how I got my hands on my first copy of this book but I think it was from a book fair and I only even got the MMPB. But lo and behold, we have an exclusive edition now. Listen, this is one of the books that I don't know how it came in my life. This is one of the books that found me.

*cue goosebumps, tears, body shivers, and everything else in between.

What I like about this book:
- My words will never be enough to tell you everything that is magical inside this book. Think The Greatest Showman, then multiple that a thousand times. That's how beautiful this was.
- I LOVED, LOVED the second person POV parts. It adds to the layer of immersion that you did not think that you would get! Yes, YOU are included in this story.
- The writing is just *chef's kisses*. Name a more beautifully written book. I'll wait.
- This book is very atmospheric and would definitely take you to another place. If you want to escape reality then you better grab this book. It is so immersive that when you look from the page you will feel sad that you're not really in the circus. This is definitely one of my favorite fictional places and would visit if I have a chance.

What I necessarily don't love about this book:
- It's kind of boring. There's not much room for the plot to go around. There's no huge conflict. This is one of those books that you would read not because of the plot or the characters, but for the experience.
- There is romance here, but there is a lack of chemistry. The characters do not even see each other that much, but it was the kind of romantic that would make you go awe.
- The main idea of the challenge--the thing that was making all these things go-round--was pretty vague. We don't even know much about the mechanics but we've got players doing all these beautiful things without knowing what was really at stake.

Am I rating this book 4 stars because of nostalgia? Maybe I am. But seriously, this is a beautiful book and you must try. I don't think you'll be able to experience this magic in any other story.
Do I recommend this to everybody? Definitely.
P.S. this is a five-star read before this reread.
