The legends of Achilles were not new to me but this modern retelling was an exciting read. Told from the perspective of his close companion Patroclus, the Greek hero Achilles is given humanity not just wartime honor and there is an emotional depth to the story not always found in historical accounts. I greatly enjoyed this fiction and that it stayed true to Homer’s work in leading us to the conclusion that our greatest vulnerabilities come from the heart.
