This is one of the longest Lovecraft stories available, and it shows. Its not bad, but it is lacking the structure longer stories, with multiple beats, have. There is no chapters, there is no real breaks, is follows the same flow any of his stories would, but just last a long longer.

The story also kind of requires to have read more of his stuff, since there is a lot of references to previous short stories. The main character is from a previous short story, which explains already a lot of context this story doesn't add. I prefer Lovecraft's shorter stories, the build up and pay off is better paced.
