Initially, I found the conversational tone of this book quite grating and thought that the character seemed much younger than she was, but this book really grew on me. It presented some really insightful and complex commentary on misogyny, sexism, race and growing up as a second generation immigrant from a relatable narrator. I did find that some of the longer sections of reminiscing dragged a bit, but overall, I enjoyed it far more than I expected to.
