I really enjoyed the first 500-600 pages - it was an immersive story and the details around the culture and landscape were really interesting. However I DNF'd with only about 100 pages to go because it just dragged on. There was very little character development from around the middle of the book and the females characters were incredibly flat. I kept dreading picking it up and trying to slog through the last 100 pages, so I stopped reading and feel better for it. I still got a lot out of the story, but honestly don't care how it ends.
