House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas

2.5

*2.5 stars*

The only reason why I’m giving this officially 3 starts instead of 2 are the last 30 pages, so let’s settle with 2.5 as a real rating.

My main problem with this book is that I felt like there was none of something that is usually very important when it comes to books… a plot. It all felt like Sarah sat down at her desk and simply started writing thinking “let’s see what happens today”.

I didn’t care too much for any of the characters, some of them had very little business even having their points of view told, in my opinion. Not even Bryce and Hunt made it that interesting to me. Their relationship was both too much and too underwhelming at the same time, if that even makes sense.

I love Sarah J. Maas, I do, but I honestly think this might have easily been her worst work. It felt to me like fan-fiction. Considering that the last 30 pages or so are the only interesting ones out of the 800 pages, I think it’s safe to say that I had to drag myself through this read most of the time just because I wanted to finish it. It really pains me to say this, but I’m sadly disappointed.
