This little book whips by at a breakneck pace; reading it feels like watching a horror movie. I thought the ending was a little random until I learned that the title in Spanish is "Rescue Distance", which in context brings together the themes of toxic interconnection. The city is tethered to the countryside and we are all tethered to the earth as a child is tethered to their mother. The poison drips through, as it were (thanks Succession).
