This book deserves its place on my 5 star shelf for several reasons.
  1. Anyone who knows me knows I enjoy a character-driven book. I love the exploration of humanity and personal lives that a character-driven story excels in.
  2. The mental health aspect of this was incredible. Loss and healing are portrayed in opaque and shocking detail.
  3. Very rarely does a story surprise me. This one had me hooked from summer '15 on.
  4. The prose is gorgeous. An oxymoron of fluidity and disjointed syntax.
While reading the last section, "Truth," a blanket of dread settled in my chest. When you read the end of this story, be in a quiet place alone.
