Thoughts: This was the first book I’ve ever read by Marni Mann and I loved it. It was fast paced and scorching hot. I wasn’t expecting the man who labeled himself a “playboy” to fall so hard and so fast. Macon went from the cold, distant playboy who never went back for seconds to begging Brooklyn for any scrap of time. The way he obsessed over her was something that would not be okay in real life, but in a book, it just worked.

I loved the juxtaposition between Macon’s wealth and Brooklyn’s lack thereof. In the grand scheme of things it didn’t matter, but it did give the book a bit of a Cinderella feel. There was no evil step mother, there wasn’t even a villain, but the housekeeper and the billionaire coupling still had that same effect.

I liked the way both Macon and Brooklyn handled the conflicts in their relationship and with their white lies. I liked all the secondary characters and makes me want to go back and read the Dalton series.
