Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard

3.0

I think Baudrillard's work toes that very dangerous line between 'nothing is 'real' and that is a rich space in which we can engage with what these things can mean for us and nothing is 'real' and holy crap forget the whole world' and I struggled with it immensely. I didn't rate it at 3 stars because I was too obtuse to understand the material but I feel as though so much of the text was Baudrillard making the same point over and over again with increasingly complex and overcomplicated jargon. I don't doubt that there was much in this text that I struggled to understand because of the breakneck pace at which I read it, but I'm still trying to figure out where exactly Baudrillard's work is most effectively utilized.
