We Rule the Night by Claire Eliza Bartlett

4.0

First off, I didn't expect to love this book the way I did. The first hundred pages were brutal and boring to get into and then I fell for the characters, and bam the book was finished.

The book is loosely based off the Night Witches from WW2, with some glorious sounding russian/fantasy names mixed in. It doesn't have the most visible plot, but honestly even without an obvious plot it is still fantastic.

I loved Linnés POV, she matched up to the male dominated side of the upfront soldiers. Having her strict following rule behavior compared to Revna's personality (which is freer and more chill), shows the difference between women and men in the military.

p.s Tannov broke my heart

Language: for being YA and military related barely any at all
Romance: n/a
Violence: killing (this is war), mention of rape, sexual harassment
