The Good Demon by Jimmy Cajoleas

3.0

This was a spoopy read for sure. I loved the concept of this book. A girl who doesn't want to lose her demon? Sign me up. However, it was just a bit too rushed for me. I wanted the journey to be a bit more drawn out and to see more of our characters. I didn't see enough of the mother daughter relationship, or lack thereof. I also wanted to see more about her dad so that I could really feel for her and the hole he left in her.

The ending wasn't that believable to me given what had happened. I wanted to see the town's influence on its people and how its changes affected the people living in it. The town is a huge crux to the novel and I had trouble believing it was as important to the novel as it was. I needed more background behind the "ruling" family and the native families of the town.

It was a unique read and the relationship between her and Roy was sweet. However, it was just a little lack luster for me.
