The Billionaire Beast by Jackie Ashenden

2.0

I enjoyed the first book in this series so when I was offered an advanced reader copy of the upcoming second book I was happy to read and review. I was disappointed with this book. It is well written and I liked the premise of the story, but just didn't connect with the characters. Nero was unlikable right from the start and that didn't change for me. While his character is supposed to be the "beast" I never saw any redemption in him. He was not sympathetic to me. When his supposed revelation and redemption came it was not believable because there was nothing leading up to it that allowed me to see that he could change. Phoebe is not a bad character, but I wanted her to be stronger and stand up to Nero. I just wasn't rooting for their happily ever after because I wasn't invested in the outcome of their relationship.

I like this author and will continue with the series because I enjoy the premise of the modern retelling of fairy tales. Hopefully I will be able to connect with the characters in the next book.
