An objectively 5 star read. WOW. I love when YA doesn’t make me feel like im being talked down to! I’m not one for historical fiction (except if its smutty teehee) but this was incredible. White has such a beautiful way of writing that not only conveys exactly what is gong on, but it put so elegantly and precise that you feel like you are there in the room with the characters. I cant wait to continue this series, and read other works by her, including The Guinevere Deception, which i already have LOL
I CANT ANYMORE. This book fosters 0 chemistry between the characters even thought there are PERFECT OPPORTUNITIES for doing so, and focuses more on what makes them so attractive. WE GET IT but looks only get you so far. Theres no substance

FINALLY. A romance book where the love interests have actual chemistry! With the romance books I’ve been reading lately, you’d think I was asking for the impossible.
This book was so great—spicy, hilarious and fun. I had so much fun reading it genuinely didn’t feel like a 400 page book—more like 100. I was actually laughing out loud at the banter/wittiness of the FMC. Lana has definitely been put on my radar with this one!

I was excited for this book lemme tell you, but honestly it was kinda mid. Im all for his dark romance type, but he basically holds her captive and starves her for days bc he thinks she betrayed him (without even thinking to hear her out) and she just magically forgives him after that. Like no conversation, no begging, etc. and again, theres no chemistry!!! Everyone is chalking ip chemistry to “an indescribable feeling” or “some unknown force”—which is okay, bc that does happen—but there cant just be that! There needs to be banter or mutual understanding of morals through a situation, etc. i feel like romace authors are getting lazy when it comes to connection these days.
I might read another one of the books from the series bc i do like the concept and im holding out hope for this specific author, but well see

DNFed at 51%. Even if you thought this book was good it didn’t need to be 800 pages long. Despite all the crazy shit in this book, from a 4x pierced dick, to a tentacle dildo, to breaking doctor-patient relationship, what broke the camel’s back for me was the weird way they would get intimate in the middle of sexy time. Like why are there always crises at the worst times 😩
UPDATE EDIT: OKAYYYY. You caught me. I picked up this dang book again despite it being terrible bc i simply couldnt stop thinking about it. Idk why; the sex scenes were too bogged down by their insecurities, there was no chemistry between the characters (how do you write an 800 page book and NONE of the characters have chemistry?? Or better yet, all the attractions can be chalked up to an “indescribable feeling of attraction”?!), or how about the fact that shes a DOCTOR and two of the people in this poly relationship are her PATIENTS?!?! Thats enough to turn me off the book right there. And then her only punishment is two week suspension with no pay, but when thats up she gets PROMOTED?!?! I just cant.
If you read this far, thanks for reading through my rant. In conclusion, i have nothing against why choose, polyamorous relationships or hockey romances (actually, i feel like one of those is going to be my next read) but when its done tastefully.
