I don't really know how to properly rate this. This is outside the wheelhouse of the type of manga I usually read, but it was very interesting. I really appreciate the compassionate nature of the main character and I think it can lead to a lot of cool things thematically. The pacing did throw me off some, but I don't know if that's a book thing or a me thing since I'm not used to reading more action-oriented manga.
This was cute and there was a lot of good queer representation. I love the idea of magical people at a coffeeshop with a bookish element to frame it all. However, it gelt quite rushed. There were some details of the plot that were muddled and some characters acted out for unclear reasons. It was a good idea and there were cute details but it would have been better if it were more fleshed out and longer.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I adored this! Such a cute romance with great art, but also Morgan's character as a sort of social chamelion over-compartmentalizing was way too relatable to me personally (and, I suspect, a pretty common queer experience). I would love to see a sequel!
I would rate this higher if I could. I finished this collection feeling changed. I felt profoundly moved and seen and seeing. Some experiences felt like they wrote a poem out of my own feelings, while others I can not possibly have known, but their words wrapped me in that situation so tightly I couldnt help but feel for them (feel with them?). I know this is what poetry does and I feel this with so much poetry, but this collection left me feeling even more. I don't know how to properly articulate it. This is a very short collection, but every poem is so powerful, it makes sense exactly as it is. This hits on gender, disability, greiving, several are even about COVID, and SO many are about love (loving friends, loving strangers, loving yourself -- how sometimes these can all be the same).
Andrea Gibson has put out another heartbreaking, heartmending collection. While this collection hits on many topics, with each peice, this digs deep into love -- not just romance, but the love you put out to the world, love of people, family, friends, learning to love yourself, love in the face of some of the hardest things. This is another brilliant poetry collection that I know I will continue to revisit.
