ehonestly i didn't really get it, it just felt like a very long winded back and forth for me for most of it until i talked about it with my boyfriend who said that therapy is just getting worse and better and worse again and i kinda got it? her writing is still really gripping and sharp and witty to read so i was okay w not really liking these characters. also the commentary on their race and class and smartness was cool and tied in well! but overall idk this just didnt do it for me im sorry sally rooney stans

okay i was ready to not like this book but honestly this actually hit with me. like this touched on a lot of very heavy things in terms of like finding your footing without school as a Real Adult, feeling like everyone else has it together, sexism and misogyny and also the anxiety of feeling like everyone hates you or is out to get you. and the metaphor of the crack underlying everything and being an ever present thing and sophie essentially persevering in spite of all the cracks in her life is soooo chefs kiss. also i know ppl felt she was one dimensional bc of all the talk of her checking her social media but are we not all victims of that rn... all we do is scroll thru our stupid lil apps... guys. the thing is. it's actually Very Serious but also not at all serious!

oof okay most of my brain during this book was like. this is feeling like a book version of the last great american dynasty by taylor swift, i also am guilty of growing up romanticizing the rich and their lives. also gat was right. i was gonna give this a two but i DID cry at the ending.
