Ive loved Logic and his music since I was 13 years old. Now 22, I felt I had put off reading this novel for way too long. I finally decided to pick it up after reading a disappointing “The Teacher” by Freida McFadden, and let me tell you…. This was definitely the kind of book I needed. Are you kidding me??? This is one of the best books I have ever read. I was hooked from the beginning, through the middle, all the way until the end. I don’t want to go into details for fear of spoiling, but to anyone who enjoys thrillers, mysteries, plot twists, romance, profoundness, inspiration, and all around a story you will be thinking about for weeks, months, even years… this is the one.

Honestly, this was not worth the read. This was my first experience with a Freida McFadden book and Im really hoping this was just a bad apple. It just felt very Wattpad and the ‘twists’ at the end were underwhelming and left so many questions unanswered.

This book has my whole entire heart. As someone who’s endured the struggles and triumphs of depression, anxiety and PTSD for over 10 years now, this book shot me back in time and reminded me how entirely strong I am for enduring. The character development, the inspirational moments and conversations between oneself, friends, family, and lover were all so well done. I will forever have a special place in my heart for this book, and for Nesta Archeron. <3

Despite how extremely dark this book is, it holds a place in my heart. The resilience Addie has and the portrayal of PTSD brought up emotions from my own past I wasn’t quite aware I was ready to face head on yet. A very healing read for me, which is probably not what I or anyone else would expect. Either way, I loved this book, and it’s getting a reread at some point so I can annotate the heck out of it.
I also would’ve rated 5 stars but I felt the conclusion was rushed.

The first half of the book is really slow. The first time I picked up the book I ended up DNFing it nearly halfway through. I picked it back up a few months later after finishing Iron Flame and I was glad I did. The second half picks up the pace and becomes action packed and tense. Definitely worth pushing through the first half of the book. The second and third book of the series were even better and I added book 2 and 3 to my list of 5 star books. Im pretty picky about which books and series Im willing to give 5 stars, so it’s saying a lot about this series. Highly HIGHLY recommend to mature fantasy fans.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
Might pick it up another time, but I thought it dragged a bit and the writing style was hard for me to enjoy.
