Burned Dreams by Neva Altaj

Eh... the plot and the writing aren't bad but I wasn't engaged at all in the story.
The lived experiences of the main characters individually could have been interesting (even though the mmc's were only briefly talked about) but I didn't care for the relationship at all. It felt like mcs were only phisically attracted to eachother and nothing deeper. Not that there weren't other motivations (for example her finding in him the only person she could have a decent relationship outside her awful marriage) but I still felt nothing. And this has happened many times with previous books by Neva Altaj for me.
Still I will continue on with the series

The book was very entertaining, and fast paced
The relationship was more attraction then love so I didn't feel heavily for the couple
Their sex scene in LA was terrible: he enters her and she cames, he pushes in again and she cames again. Sure Anne, sure.
For once I really liked the choice of the title
What Was Meant To Be by Heather Guerre

Decent read. I don't love small town contemporary romances so it didn't blow me away.
Things to appreciate: fmc with autism but it is only a facet of her, finding yourself, dom fmc, I always really like Guerre's third act brake ups.

What didn't convince me fully: I didn't fall for the mmc (nothing bad but nothing attractive either), marriage of convenience is a trope that I am becoming numb to it and it always feels so forced in contemporaries

There were a few very spicy scenes

I adored this one!
So much action, angst and great steam!

A favourite.

Not really the same but Ice Storm by Anne Stuart is the closest book to this one that I have read. But it's part of a series

This one was so much fun!

Second chance with flashbacks that I did not mind.
Action packed and the whole committee crew was back.
Quite similar in vibes to Stylo Fantome's Best Laid Plans.
I loved the part set in Africa, the cameos and the angst in the love story.
I liked it less that Isobel was supposed to be the most badass fmc but acted as a standard one (not so cold and skilled after all).
Not my favourite couple but a favourite dynamic.
I really loved this book

A strange mix:
Cute very flirtatious relationship.
Hookup to friends (pining hero and closed off fmc (the typical mmc who doesn't believe that he can be loved but here ot is the fmc) > two tropes that I don't enjoy) to friends with benefits to couple.
The book has two pow but the mmc's was the more relevant one in my opinion.
Many very detailed sex scenes. Quite hot and sexy, I would have preferred a bit less but it was still good.

Not at all the romance book that I usually read, pleasant but forgettable

When in doubt read Anne Stuart.

Her books are extremely formulaic but they work so well for me!

Crazy organisation that wants to unleash Armageddon goes after a museum creator to steal an urn. She is rescued by a misterious man who also wants the urn, and that has been ordered to kill her. The story is set between California and Japan, it's action packed from beginning to end and there is even a scene of fake relationship.
I really loved seeing them always on the run and their attraction was quite strong but they tried to fight it (so much angst!). I really enjoyed it!

Beware that she is an old writer so some tropes and consent are like the ones you found in books written in the 80/90s

This is a ya fantasy romance (with half of a detailed sex scene at the end).
It was fun, unimaginative but it combined all the good tropes/scenes that we love in fantasy romance. It added nothing to my life, I don't think that I am going to continue reading the series but it kept me decent company for an afternoon  and an evening.
The writing was easily readable.

Powerful and special healer fmc who is resourceful, a bit naive and insecure but also strong-minded and brave.
Tall, dark, magical, touch her and you die, (older) king as the mmc.
Enemies to lovers even though he's down bad from the start, she doesn't immediately know who he is because he's disguised - if this is not how every fantasy couple meet I don't know what you have been reading.
Small town healer girl who has a misterious power and that is abducted by the army of the country that her king is fighting against. She is kept prisoner, meets a handsome stranger, is then made to be a healer for the mmc keep (yes he is the opposing king and ai don't consider this a spoiler because it's obvious while you are reading it). They bud heads but are attracted towards each other and she is almost immediately treated as a welcomed guest instead of like a  prisoner.
The book is overall good, all the tropes were all the fun ones, the side characters were all lovely, positive and fun - the librarian friend, the second in command, the medic/fighting trainer.

I like broody, possessive, morally gray heroes, I don't like heroes who are down bad for the heroine though.  There is talk of rape (not the mmc) and the mmc was very concerned about consent, but the relationship was too slow for no reason. I want somewhat likable heroes but I don't buy a king that has a manw*ore reputation to take things that slow. They are clearly smitten with eachother, they go swimming together, they are jealous, they banter, they basically say that they like eachother, they cure eachother and sleep in the same bed and cuddle and only at the end of the book they kiss and start (but are interrupted) having sex.
It's a ya fantasy romance, they basically do nothing till the end and in how they deal with their feeling they are just like teenagers. I have 't  looked this up but I wouldn't be surprised if he author herself was still a later teen on in her early thirties.
There is nothing wrong with this being a ya novel, it's only that me being accostumated to adult romances found the slowness of the relationship a bit frustrating. I do not know how old was the heroine but she was naive, a virgin and in general young.

SPOILERS!
The ending was the same as in the last few ta fantasy romances that I have read, she finally trust him but he has kept some secrects. I shouldn't be mad because the narration had hinted at it for some time but the sameness is luckluster. It's a good way to end the first book in a series but it's been overdone at this point.
Also: the prophecy was pretty bad and way too soecific.
The dragon trasformation and fight at the end was a bit cheesy.
Also the mother death at the end is very tipical, but (as the tropes at the beginning) I appreciated it.
It was obveaus that the mmc knew of her lineage, needed her and that's why he was so interested in her frim the beginning but hearing the motivation and thinking back at their first interactions from is pow (dragon and prison) was really interesting and pleasant

Is this a great swoon worthy romance? No
But it was very fun to revisit this story from Rourke side.
As the previous one the beginning is centered on the mmc outside the love story (which I liked due to this being a reread, as a love story it could be frustrating), romance is slow burning until the end when he's in deep
Slow Dancing by Stylo Fantome

My review has disappeared 😔
Enjoyed this one.
The cover is misleading: it's about a famous pop star, her hoing on a tour and falling for a dancer, some other man drama his part. Messy and emotional but also very fun. Recommended
