Would you believe if someone says that God will walk on this Earth once again and save the world? Will people of different religion and faith accept this or will it cause ripples of trouble?
.
.
The protagonist is a high profile journalist, Ross Hunter who decides to answer a phone call that changes his life forever. When an old man approaches him and conveys the message from God, little does Ross know what he’s getting into. Will Ross believe in the old man and carry out his instructions as said by God? Or will he listen to his mind and choose the practical way? This book has everything that a reader expects from a thriller and action packed read.
.
.
What starts as a task of curiosity, sets his life in motion when the old man says that Ross is the chosen one who can rescue the world. As I read along, I couldn’t put this book down. The rest of the novel speaks about Ross’s struggles and smartness in every move that he makes. It has the right set of villains and mystery to it that kept me on my toes! .
.
This was my first read by the author and post reading this, I’m sure i’ll pick up many of his works. This book will be getting published on October 4th 2018 and I’m excited that others will get a chance to read this brilliant book.
.
.
I would rate this book 4.5 / 5.

Just Missed. .

I usually do not indulge in romance genre but I had the chance to review the author’s debut novel. The story revolves around three adults: Shreya, Shivam and Sid. When a very ambitious Sid agrees for an arranged matrimonial setup, he ends up meeting his dream girl, Shreya. As Sid and Shreya get to know each other, her friendship with Shivam turns out to be something more. The rest of the story is how Shreya figures out who’s best for her amongst the two men in her life. The story is very loosely constructed and at places felt almost very causal. The language is fairly simple and even includes Hindi phrases very often. The plot was nothing extraordinary and I felt like reading one of the books of romance back from my college days. .
.
The characters were very finicky and I personally felt that they could have been worked on much more. It had very Bollywood vibes to it with the typical love triangle situation throughout. Few scenes were too dramatic and could have been mellowed down just a tad bit. But considering that this was the author’s very first book, it is commendable for his language usage. .
.
I would rate it 2/5.

This book took me by surprise. Beginning was a bit slow to my taste but gradually the story picked up pace and then there was no looking back. This book is marvellously written, with puns and humour ever so often. There are hundreds of us who have a monotonous routine, who hesitate to step out of their comfort zone and more often that not find themselves amidst boredom. If it’s you, pick this book up and give it a read. .
.
When the protagonist, Paul meets a stranger who has an air of mystery around him, little did he know that his life will take a turn in the future. The book revolves around four characters including Paul who’s a writer, Hazare (the stranger) , Raj (the driver) and Ben (foreigner). When they head out on an adventure, Paul realises what he has been missing out all these years. The adrenaline of being part of something unknown, the thrill of tackling the villains, and pure comedy, this book has it all. .
.
The author has done a splendid job in bringing the plot together and highlighting the characters. The vocabulary and writing skills are fabulous and easy at the same time. Given how this is his first novel, it’s an applaudable task. .

Still Lives. .
.
“Never look for the what. Find the who. Who gets hurt. Who gains. Whose life will never be the same.”
.
.
Thank you @harpercollinsus for sending this review copy! .
.
There are many reviews going around saying that Still Lives is not a thriller that they expected it to be. And that’s true. .
.
When the ultra genius artist Kim Lord goes missing during the opening night of her new collection called Still Lives, a storm stirs up. Kim features as the murdered women across the country in her new art, posing in self portraits. It causes a ripple throughout the audience. .
.
Maggie Richter, an editor in the museum gets entangled in the missing case by being a suspect and also because her ex was Kim’s boyfriend. She tries resolving the mystery and is determined in catching the culprit. .
.
When the cops declare Kim dead, Maggie gets more consumed in the case and realises that her life isn’t safe anymore. .
.
This is one of the books that’s masterfully written and gives an insight about what goes on within the walls of a museum. It was refreshing and also informative. Initial pages of the story makes you want to finish the book fast so that you can reach the ending and figure out the mystery. But the story fell flat in the very end. .
.
The characters were too tangled and lacked emotions. This book was skilfully written yet it missed to deliver the sense of climax by going limp. .
.
I would rate this book 3/5.

Minuscules. .
.
If I have to quote my favourite line, I’d have to write down the entire book. Least to say, this was a fabulous read on a very Mondayish Tuesday. .
.
Minuscules is a pretty little book that hides beautiful, dark and also thoughtful messages within its pages. This book of micro tales and short stories is spine chilling and captivating. When a page of few lines can raise hair on your neck, imagine what an entire book would do. Irrespective of being a small read, this book boldly speaks about mental health, crime, violence and also pain. There are few shades of romance coveted gently within the page folds. The stories are crisp and to the point. The author has done a splendid job in speaking her heart out when it comes to feelings and various norms of society. .
.
This was such a refreshing read! I could not put it down and finished reading in just an hour. They say simplicity often brings out the best of everything. This book sets a perfect example of how only a few words can keep the readers enraptured and strikes a chord deep within them. .
.
Priyanka Bhatt is a budding writer and with this book in tow, there’s no stopping her. She’s witty, genius and has a wonderful way with words. .

Heart. .
.
Thank you @sandeepjauhar for being kind enough to send this review copy. .
.
I remember being fascinated by an organ the size of my fist when I sat in my Biology class back in school. This book takes me back to the days when I thoroughly enjoyed drawing heart structure into my records :) .
.
The author is a renowned cardiologist who has written two medical memoirs and is also a opinion writer for the Times. In this book, he talks about all the doctors who took great risks to conduct their studies on the most vital organ in the body. They were shunned, discouraged and critiqued for their research and interest in curing various diseases that plagued the heart. Contrary to what I thought, this book was not too difficult to comprehend. There are many medical terms, yes, but it has been explained in layman terms and also with a story behind every chapter to keep the readers interested. It’s truly marvellous how doctors over the years have improvised their devices to keep hearts beating in terms of sickness and also how procedures and surgeries were done back in the early days. .
.
The author himself has gone through a turbulent time when few members of his family faced heart problems and this piqued his interest in knowing and learning everything that he can to explore the vastness of the subject. His personal experience with patients and other peers are well portrayed in these pages and it makes you wonder how can a doctor’s hand be strong and steady as metal! This book was a welcome change to my reading pattern, making me nostalgic about my days of being a Biology student. .
.
Human body is capable of so many things and it’s a never-ending learning process. Being a doctor isn’t a easy thing. You have to have a courageous heart and nerves of steel to stand so firm on the ground when the world around you is in chaos. Heart is truly an awe inspiring book that educates people about all those people who were brave enough to go against the world in coming up with unique procedures to save dying and diseased men. .

Cold Truth. .
.
I was immensely lucky to bump into the author in my favourite bookstore couple of days ago. The author is a very humble man who makes time to talk to readers. And I’m so glad I bought his book because this read was something else :) .
.
When a ten year old girl Sakshi goes missing from Delhi, a journalist’s internet is piqued. The cops show no interest in the case of Sakshi and other hundreds of children who disappear everyday. When the Journalist takes the lead and digs up details surrounding the missing kids, dirty secrets start spilling out. Records show that Sakshi wasn’t the only child who disappeared without a trace but there were many children who vanished off the face of Earth. The story starts unravelling in the coming chapters. The skeletons in the closet that was carried to Delhi from Russia, the clinical involvement in Antarctica, and secret documents leaked by a trusted source, these are what made this story a mind blowing read. .
.
The plot is exceptionally well thought and has been executed flawlessly. The character of the journalist and his acquaintance who helps him in resolving the case are very well written. All the details and the research that the author must have done over the period of time are commendable. The fascinating thing about this book is the way it has been penned down. Keeping aside the usual and mundane way of writing a story, the author has been clever in interpreting the story in the form of whatsapp message, newspaper clippings and also journal entries. .
.
It’s a cold blooded story written with utmost care and perfection. Something that would rattle the nerves of a mystery lover. You will have to wait till the very last page for your answers. Is Sakshi still alive and well? What was the thing that the scientists discovered in Antarctica? What is that thing, really? .
.
I finished reading this book in a day because it made me a curious-head to find the answers. Considering how the author worships Stephen King, this book has that aura of horror and supernatural fiction to it. .

A cage of desires.

.
A big thank you to the author for sending this review copy in exchange of an honest review. .

Sanity and I have never really gotten along, and it is too late in the day to make friends with it now Shuchi Singh Kalra. .
.
It’s no secret that women are fierce, strong and also warm. They can make a home and can also bring down one, if unjust is served. Despite of going through all the hurdles on her own, a woman can still stand tall and not complain. .
.
This novel was utterly captivating because it talks about passion and desires that women seek. The lead is a middle aged married woman, Renu who gives up her career to look after her family. She dwindles in an unhappy marriage all her life and starves for love from her husband. Things go awry when her marriage falls apart and she finds love in someone else’s arms. Renu does not shy away from being herself as she blooms into a strong and independent woman. This story is beautifully narrated by the author by considering all the emotions that a woman feels.
.
.
To every woman out there, this book talks about how to stand up for yourself and not to settle for something less. Because why let our desires and passion die like burning embers when it can burn like the brightest fire? :) .
