A fun, flirty coming-of-age romance of a young Canadian girl. This debut novel from Miranda Oh is one you won't want to put down.

The Outside Circle is such an important read, especially for Canadians looking for a fresh outlook of Native studies in Canada. It provides a gripping understanding of the mistreatment of indigenous people while providing a glimmer of hope for generations to come at the same time. The choice of medium (graphic novel) was very well thought out, and I hope it makes it more accessible for people to read. I really hope to see this piece enter our school curriculums to flesh out our knowledge of such a dark past, because I feel that we don't spend enough time learning about this in our school systems. Definitely go find a copy of this one!

As a huge fan of Ian Fleming and his writing, I really wanted to like this more. But it really bothered me that most of the time you saw a female in these strips she was bare-breasted. I don't have issues with nudity in graphic novels, but what I do have an issue with is unnecessary nudity and that is what you find here. It would be really interesting to do some research on this and (considering it appeared in newspapers) see if it was controversial at the time it came out.
