Superbe roman. ( Comme d’habitude, c’est King).

“Sometimes it kills me the way people die”, Death

This reading was recommended to me by Booktok. Everyone said it was a great book, which prompted me to buy it. In addition to that, there was the word book in the title. What reader wouldn't want to read a story involving books?

What is different with this book is that the narrator is not Liesel, but Death herself. She tells how she got to know Liesel Meminger, this young girl with a very painful past but also gives us an idea of her way of operating, what happens when she comes to take people during this Nazi period.

At first, I got a little lost in the story, I couldn't quite understand what was going on. I think that's why I decided to take a break on page 285. Fortunately, after resuming this reading everything was easier and more painful. My heart broke into pieces. Tears prevented me from seeing clearly. I had found myself hooked to the characters and especially Rudy, Liesel's best friend. This is the first or second time that I have had to read a book about how the Nazis treated Jews and it broke my heart. At times, I wanted to scream, but too bad.

The book is very well written and Death did its narration well. I think to understand what I felt, you will have to read the book and experience it all for yourself. Regarding my opinion, this book, I give it a 10/10. I highly recommend this one. Just don't forget your hankies.
