“Dedicated to the stargazers and the dreamers. The ones that want more from life but fear going after it. Here's to finding the courage.”

One night. That's all it takes to alter someone's life. All it takes to change your whole perspective. All it takes to divert your whole trajectory. That's all it took for me. I always had this gut feeling that things would not remain as they were. That my perfect little life—my perfect boyfriend and perfect town-would come to an end. And boy was I right. A girl couldn't be this happy. Something had to burst that bubble. And burst it did. Burst. Explode. Detonate. Combust. Wolf shifters, supernatural hunters and secret training academies. How was this my life? I was played. I was lied to. And now it was time for me to finally take control. But which side was I meant to be on? The pack or the Knights? This wasn't the fairytale I imagined it would be.

This book had a lot of potential. There was a lot to love here but some things fell flat or felt like they were missing. I loved a lot of the characters. I mean you can’t go wrong with a strong FMC. The book could have used some more world building for me as well as more in depth descriptions regarding characters as well. But from what we do learn about the characters was enough to make me really enjoy reading their story. The banter in the book helped as well. Love a book with some good banter 😏.

The pace was a bit slow at times for me but overall that wasn’t an issue. The writing was solid enough as well!

Overall it was good read. The vibes were there for me.

“Dedicated to all my indecisive queens. I feel you. You are seen.”

One was the sun and the other was the moon. Now how on earth was a girl meant to pick? I came back to Saint Claire-back to my old life and the wolf shifters that had been like family to me until that fateful night-to make amends and offer my aid against the rogues that were terrorising their pack. I never expected the charming and impervious Knight Captain to come for me. The one who I had a fling with at the academy. Who taught me how to be a hunter and helped me find myself. But he did. Leaving me with a choice between the wolf, who had once been my whole world, and the Knight, who changed my world. Having two boys fighting for you wasn't as glamorous as everyone made it out to be. I'm the bridge between their two worlds. A Knight and an advocate for the wolves. It's in my blood. So how could I possibly choose between them with a treaty so precarious and a host of enemies at our backdoor? Now all I can do is look to the stars for answers, hoping that they'll give me guidance because this is the biggest decision l've ever had to make. And making decisions was never my strong suit.

I did receive this as an arc read but this review is all my own.

Now I did enjoy this book more than the first. But it still felt like something was lacking from it despite me enjoying the read. The plot was interesting enough to keep me engaged and the romance as well. I’m not normally for love triangles in books but I feel like I’ve read quite a few of them recently and I didn’t mind this one. Overall a decent read! I’m pretty neutral on this one.

Madness: A Young Decay Novel by Jack Whitney

Blurb

ANDI For a decade, l've managed to dodge getting assigned to photograph my brother's rock band, Young Decay. That is until one of our photographers tries to get a photo of the band's most elusive and private member. It's only for ten days. Just long enough to capture their Halloween homecoming show run and while they find a permanent replacement. I'm set for home, thinking I can avoid all the fears going home comes with. Fears that l've been running from for years now. I expect the darkness of the past to dig its claws into me and threaten never to let go. However, I don't expect to find someone who sees my darkness not as a flaw but as another beautiful part of who I am. And I especially don't expect that someone to be my brother's best friend, Young Decay's masked bassist, Mads Tourning. Or as I know him... Maddox Keynes MADDOX Since Young Decay's early days, my privacy has been a part of me l've clung to. I'm used to wearing the mask day in and day out, hiding myself from anyone who might want a glimpse. They don't expect to find a monster running from his past, hoping people will forget he even exists. Yet, here I am heading home for our band's Halloween homecoming run. I'm ready to shed my mask and finally breathe a little in front of the people who took me in as a kid, and even to see the woman l've had a crush on for a decade. I never expected to one day have her in my arms, to share the darkest corners of my soul with. And now that I have her... I'll do anything to keep her. Even if it means losing everything.

I received an ARC for Jack Whitney’s newest book Chaos which in turn made me want to obviously read this first. This was my first time reading a novel by Jack Whitney.

The plot was good! Had me hooked the entire time. And the spice was 😏. There was so much to take in reading this novel. And the characters were written well! I loved the depth both Maddox and Andi had.

Another thing I loved about this is how it takes place around Halloween. And if anyone knows me Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. So bonus points for that 😉.

Triggers at the end

Chaos: A Young Decay Novel by Jack Whitney

Blurb

REED I've always been the guy everyone knows by name or voice, who people want to be friends with and who some people want to be. As the lead singer of the rock band Young Decay, l've been able to stay true to that person. However, the one thing that's always been my downfall is never turning down a challenge. Maybe that's why when plus-size model and actress, Wren Kelly, approaches me about a fake dating scheme her publicist worked up, I barely hesitate before agreeing to it. Have I mentioned how much she absolutely hates me? WREN I've lived my life behind a mask I have no intention of shedding-not for any acting role, not for any friend, and most especially, not for any relationship. My publicist thinks she has a genius plan: fake date everyone's favorite bad boy rockstar, Reed Matthews, hoping to turn the public's eye in a more positive direction. The only problem is that he's everything I can never have. Amidst our heated arguments and the public's scrutinizing gaze, I feel him chipping away at the walls l've spent years curating. With more press watching my every move, the demons from my past quickly begin catching up with me and threatening everything I care about. Reed wants this to be real. He wants us to go on being together even after the stunt is over. But every story has to have an ending. And no story l've ever lived through has had a happy one.

I received this as an ARC from Wicked Reads. But this review is all my own.

Just like the first book in this series I have to say the depth to the characters is something I love and I loved reading Wren and Reed’s story.

The Young Decay books are rock star romances (and also the first rock star romances I’ve read), but they're also deeper and than that. The Young Decay series is intense, gripping, and brimming with passion.

Overall another great reed. (See what I did there?)

Jack Whitney I’ll be keeping an eye out for your other books in the future and you can BET I’ll be looking into your other works asap.  Thank you for letting me be apart of this arc team!

“There's a carnival in Layol filled with magic. It travels every night with some of the worst creatures imaginable. Ever since the war started these creatures have been hunted for crimes they didn't commit. Owen wants to forget that things will never be as they were before the war. He's pretty skilled at finding things to distract him or finding someone for that matter. It was easy enough. Then Asher and Shara had to show up and mess everything up. Just when he thought he was close to getting Asher from his mind and going back to being the careless Casanova they all took him for, Shara slams into his life running from something. He had chosen an easy, vapid life. He wasn't supposed to want, especially not both of them. If life taught him anything, you can't always have what you want, and life has always forced him to choose. With darkness wrapping the carnival and hunters around every corner, his choices might very well cost him his life or theirs.”

Now fair warning there is some HEAVY spice in the beginning of the book which may be jarring for some to read. So here is your warning now! But the spice does slow down as the book progresses. (Character development people 👀) When lust turns into love.

I loved the setting of the book and although initially the plot felt slow moving at first due to all the spice in the beginning it was nice to see how things evolved and changed with the characters as time went on.

Overall this review is simple but I loved it a lot and if you read it I hope you love it too.

I received this as an ARC but this review is all my own. (I did end up preordering the book as well since I loved it!)

I received this as an arc but I do want to say I also pre ordered the paperback and hardcover. So if that doesn’t tell you how I feel about it then I guess read the rest of the review 😂.

Had life not been so crazy lately I would have read this in one sitting. I loved everything in this book. The world building is captivating. And the plot had me hooked the entire time. The character felt complex enough and lovable.

This book had me feeling so many different emotions. For a first book in a series I’m absolutely hooked and bonus points since the author is exceptionally kind 💜.

Also Kacie. I think we need to have a talk because I need the next book ASAP. 👀 you can’t just leave me hanging like this 😭.

Overall I loved this book. I kept the review simple and sweet since life has been hectic but I just need to get it out there that I loved this book. If you love a Romantasy with great world building and don’t mind a little medium / fast-burn romance then this is the book for you.

I want to start off by saying this was such an amazing read, and it really is a true enemies to lovers that is full of spice, angst, and emotion. There are triggers in this book, and it is an adult fantasy book, so please keep that in mind before reading.

I did receive this as an ARC read, but this review is entirely my own. Chiara is so talented, and talking to her has been such a joy. She is such a kind soul. Her world-building is phenomenal, from language to politics and more. The more I read, the more I fell in love with the characters and the world. I’m so excited for the second book. Oh and the spice ? It’s SPICY 🥵.

“There was once a sea witch with powers that rivaled Poseidon himself.

When she challenged him for his throne, he killed her, and her magic was locked away in a nautilus shell lost in the dark ocean depths.

Sought after by many, none had the power to wield it.

Until now.”

“Villains are not born. They’re made”

I want to start off my saying I did receive this as an ARC read and I loved it so much I pre-ordered the book. Raylnn is so kind and real and it’s been a pleasure being on her ARC team. This is a spoiler free completely honest review.

There are two versions of this book which I think is an amazing option. There is the Open Door Version ( which does including triggering scenes) and a Closed Door Version (which is cleaner with triggering scenes removed) personally I think this is a wonderful way to allow so many to enjoy this book.

Curse of the Nautilus is a beautifully written villain origin story and a unique take on The Little Mermaid. This is not the story you grew up with but something that is evolved and mature in the best way possible. The world-building in this book was beautifully written, and the plot had me HOOKED 🪝. I couldn’t put it down.  This book is full of trauma, heartbreak , love. It’s all here. The characters are interesting throughout the book.

I’ve never read a book with Hawaiian Folklore / Mythology and now I need more! It’s something I’ve never seen before in a book. The combination of Hawaiian and Greek Mythology is perfect.

Edit: I want to add here that despite the books glaring issues I decided on a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I see potential for the story and the series in the future. I look forward to seeing how this develops further.

Chaos Unbound follows Alexandria Hemlock, the daughter of the leader of the Nightshade Coven, but who has herself never shown any evidence of power. As a result, her relationship with her mother is deeply contentious and problematic, leading to Alexandria leading a mostly independent life. She surrounds herself with her friends Kohl and Ophelia, trying to lead a fulfilling life despite the state of her home life. One night, when her mother is out of town, Alexandria's village is attacked by unknown forces, causing Ophelia's disappearance and Kohl's death. What follows is Alexandria learning that witches aren't the only supernatural beings when a vampire, Elias, breaks into her home searching for a stolen artifact. As she dives deeper into a world previously unknown to her, Alexandria learns that everything she thought she knew was a lie. Will she be able to discover who she really is and what she is really capable of, while building close relationships with creatures she thinks are enemies?

There is a ton of promise in this book and the next series. It took me a while to get through it since it felt confusing and rushed at first. Despite initial reservations, I became more interested as the story continued and loved some of the characters. I'm excited to see how the series develops in the second book considering the cliffhanger at the end 😱.

I was originally going to give this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️, but I believe it will be fantastic if the rushed portions are smoothed out, but since I think this has so much promise as a series, I'm going to round up to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
