The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score
5.0
This was my introduction to Lucy Score, and let me just say that I'm here to stay! The way this book didn't have a single page that wasn't juicy is criminal. First of all I love the badassness about Catalina mixed with the reserved calm natured Noah King. Well calm everywhere but the bedroom;), cause my boy was a monster lol. But really this book had the perfect balance of "spice" and actual romance, which I love cause it builds up throughout the book making for a much more enjoyable reading experience. I also feel that the "enemies to lovers" plot wasn't overdone or exaggerated to the point where it was cringe or downright annoying. Overall this book was an amazing read and a GREAT way to close out the Christmas season!
The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan
5.0
Gotta love Kennedy Ryan! I was obsessed with this story and I NEED MORE! Ugh I can't wait to start the next book in this series. Let me just say that Maxim and Lennix were literally made for each other. The chemistry was so good I forgot I was reading!
Dispatcher Stress: 50 Lessons on Beating the Burnout by Adam Timm, Joe Serio
5.0
If you are a dispatcher/911 operator this is definitely the book for you! It did an amazing job at not only showing the challenges the actual job throws at us, but also the issues we cause for ourselves. Whether that be a negative work environment, for example; complaining it's gonna be a bad day before the day has even started. Or getting frustrated with every tiny thing that occurs. Let's be honest most of us are on a 12hr - shift schedule, so that leaves a lot of room for actual high priority incidents to come through the center. Now by the time it's time to actually handle said incident, you're already pissed off because of the magnitude of idiot callers that have called in or whatever gets your panties in a bunch lol(and yes, I get the frustration but we must move forward with a positive mindset or you'll have a very long and miserable career or an extremely short lived one. That however is your decision to make). On a more positive note, I love how the authors told you issues you may face that can hinder you ability to exceed the best you can but also affect your mental health, as well as explain a lot of ways you can repair that fatigue to continue without missing a beat. This may have been a short read, however lord was it a good one!
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
5.0
All I can say is "WHEW." However I will do my best to actually formulate some words and have them make actual sense. This book was very and I mean VERY traumatic but when i say it was an emotional eye opening read I'm not lying. There wasn't a single moment throughout this entire book that I believed this was fiction. It just felt too real, too powerful. Tia Williams created one of those pieces of art that you can only consume once, cause it's that raw. It reminded me of a movie such as "Precious," and although we need content such as those, it is extremely hard to experience it more than once. But these stories must be told, cause it showcases the real struggles a lot of people face, the hardships they go through, the pit a relationship can throw them in, the toxicity shot into you from all those around us, and sometimes, although unfortunate, they don't make it out unscathed. Or sometimes they just don't make it out. So with all that being said, I still certainly recommend this book to all of you, but advise you to go in with a cautious mind because (excuse my language) shit gets real and dark quickly.
On better note happy reading to everyone, and don't ask me what took me so long to write this review. I was crying from the trauma!!!
