Heir of Fire took me entirely too long to finish. I’m not vibing with the pacing of this series so far, but I’m really enjoying the story and a ton of interesting reveals and development occurred in this one. I know it only gets bigger and more involved after this point, so I’m going to take a break before going onto Empire of Storms.

WHEW this book took me on a visceral, exciting, uncomfortable, and delicious ride. I was nervous that the book would feel too long, but it absolutely was not. The pacing and meticulous detail in Nathan Hill’s writing style made captured me from beginning to end.

This is so close to a 5 star book for me, but I’m giving it a 4.75 because there are times I didn’t know when in time I was. I’m comfortable with nonlinear, non chronological storytelling, but at times I felt lost while reading Wellness. I’m sure that ultimately was kind of the point though.

Overall an excellent book. I rented it from the library, and I’m tempted to get my own copy I loved it so much.
