~*~*~*~
Two warring clans, both alike in violent tendency,
In the forests of Preia, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where leaders’ blood makes soldiers’ hands unclean.
~*~*~*~

Aulis and Olarr are the Romeo and Juliet couple of the Orc Sworn world! From the moment they meet their fates are intertwined, and through battles and betrayals they still fight to be together. Espionage becomes their love language as they work together to scheme and plot their way out of a senseless war.

I love how both leads had vulnerable moments - this is an evenly matched couple who likes to switch up the power dynamics in the ring and wherever else they like to spar ;) And it wouldn’t be a Finley Fenn novel without a twist that will rip your heart out (temporarily, of course). I did NOT see this one coming, the best orc scheme yet! Each book also gives us a little bit more orc magic which I love. The world building gets me every time!

If you’ve read Finley’s Orc Mountain series then you will know there’s a bittersweet ending to this story, with happier times to come for these heroes after the war has ended. It will be fun to reread the first book in the series, knowing the devious O
orc scheming that was happening in the background the whole time…

The Thoughtful Throuple of Orc Mountain 💚

Another home run by Finley! I’ve wanted to learn more about our Grisk Disaster Twins, Varinn and Thrain, since we got to know them better in Governess and the Orcs. Varinn is such a good teacher, it was obvious he deserved a son of his own ❤️ I was immediately invested in Kitty and her keen eye for the trade business - what a great new aspect to bring to our Orc Mountain family! And we get to grow with Thrain as he struggles with his substance issues. Fans of the miscommunication trope, get excited for a triple serving! Through it all, we get the sneaky orc schemes, the overthinking human, the bond of love and brotherhood, and the happiness of finding one’s place.

And as per usual with our naughty orcs and their mates, expect plenty of… ahem… ✨juicy juicy bananas and peaches✨. And glimmering Grisk gold!

I loved the tie in to more of the Orc mythology and learning about the Orc family history, it makes the world feel even more complete and I can’t wait for the next book!

How do we even BEGIN to untangled this ADDICTING web of hidden secrets, emotional lies, and tragic backstories?! Tate and Jaymin have worked their magic to make this story so deep that after 300 pages I feel like we have barely scratched the surface! Why did Billie break Jace’s heart? What happened to make her run from Angelo the first time? Will the band break up over their namesake girl?! THANK GOODNESS we only have to wait a month until the next book because the HUGE information drop at the end was almost as bad as a cliffhanger!

WITNESS THE COWBOY HAT RULE IN ACTION!
Look small-town contemporary romance is not usually my thing, BUT PUT HIM IN SOME COWBOY BOOTS ON THE BACK OF A BULL AND I AM SOLD. I tore through this book SO FAST because I could not resist the tension, the drama, the slow burn, the spice! I laughed, I cried, I threw my phone and screamed “SERIOUSLY?!” so many times I’m worried I toke my neighbors in the middle of the night. Absolutely feral for the dirty-talking grumpy cowboy and the girl that tames him, and I can’t wait to read the next book!!!
