I really enjoyed this. Daphne was strangely self aware and at the same time annoying as fuck. The ending didn't entirely work for me personally but overall that didn't massively impact my enjoyment. I'm glad I read this.

"I did not allow blindness to intimidate me. And besides, my publisher made me an excellent offer: he told me that if I produced thirty poems in a year, he would produce a book. Thirty poems means discipline, especially when one must dictate every line, but at the same time it allows for a sufficient freedom, as it is impossible that in one year there will not be thirty occasions for poetry."

A wonderful collection of essays <3

Not the book or the author! Just don't think this is for me at this moment in time <3 also decided I need to read the books I own rather than focusing on books I impulsively get from the library

Idk tbh this was so much more interesting to me when it was focused on Instagram influencers and social media than it when it was exploring the main character's relationships and affairs. Kinda fell flat and I can't be bothered to think about it anymore:)

Vague spoilers ahead ? I suppose

"Despite everything I had done, the fires kept coming." - GIRL?!!! you didn't do ANYTHING!

This was such a MESS but I did buy it with the intention of reading something easy/fun/out of my comfort zone so I wasn't expecting too much. I don't read mysteries usually so I was not expecting it to become a new favourite book or anything.

The narrator keeps telling you that she's a sleuth and that cops are useless so she will have to investigate herself, which is fine except she barely does any actual sleuthing. She just walks up to any character she dislikes for some reason and goes "what do you think about FIRE!?!?" To see their reaction. She only discovers the actual arsonist by accident right at the end, while as a reader you work it out quite early on.

However, overall the book was what I was looking for. It was fun sometimes and easy to read and I love a story about a nun. I've decided I also love characters who are religious or have a complicated relationship with religion but remain faithful anyway.
It did feel like the author was trying to be super serious, (and the book is definitely very dark in places), but pretty much the entire time I was reading I just kept thinking: "this is so SILLY".

Idk what rating this could possibly add up to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Will probably come back to this at some point but I'm drowning in proofs I need to read atm :( also it was not as gripping as I wanted it to be... It's tagged as challenging on here so maybe I just need to give it a bit longer to impress me but I'm ngl I'm not finding the writing anything amazing so far....

Please don't let me dnfing put you off I'm just a hater
