Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

This book probably is one of my favorite books ever published by Cassandra Clare! She definitely is my favorite author, and I thoroughly loved The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, but Lady Midnight grabbed my interest from the beginning and never let go! I can't WAIT till the release date of the second book, even though it's still about a year away ;___;

So, this was another book I had to read for my literature class. It was devided into 2 parts, the General Prologue and The Miller's Prologue and Tale, and it was written in the original Old English language, aka I have no clue what I've read just now. I hope to get some more clearity once I go to the lectures next week, but I think I did understand most of the story so that's why I gave it 3 stars! Might be updated later this week though :)

Review to come! I did not enjoy this series as much as I thought I would, but nevertheless I did enjoy it ;) More thoughts will be discussed when I have time to write a review! :)

This book was recommended to me because I really enjoyed An Ember in the Ashes! I did have a different mindset going into this book and overall, I think you could label this book as a guilty pleasure read with a bit more plot.
This book is definitely confusing yet amazing. There were multiple times during the story where I didn't know what the heck was going on or what the characters were thinking... I definitely enjoyed all the witty female roles but Shahrzad??? I loved her character but in the middle of the book, she somehow turned into this needy child instead of the powerful female character I thought she represented?
Spoiler First she's all I'm going to kill this monster boy-king!! I will never love him!! And suddenly Khalid ignores her for one second and she runs after him and throws her hands around his waist. That scene was awful...

Then again, there wasn't a huge plot line, there weren't any huge plot twists or anything. All things happening were pretty predictable but enjoyable either way :)

Another school read I finished this month! I've been really enjoying the reads I have to do for my literature class, including the play of The Duchess of Malfi! Overall, I love all characters and their weird dialogues and the only thing that really frustrated me, was the time jumps during the play but considering that it was a play and not an actual novel, I still gave it 4/5 stars :)

Okay so, this book literally infuriated me but the stupid part was that the ending was pretty well done :/ That's why I'm still giving it 3 stars, but I'm not recommending this book to anyone. It was full of cliche tropes that made me literally sigh throughout the book and it was all really predictable.

The ending caused some excitement because it wasn't as majorly predictable as the rest of the book. The book did read really quickly and was well written, but just not very original overall.

What drew me to this book was the flap, saying ''I am Henrietta Howel. The first female sorcerer in ages. The girl who can control flames. The one who will defeat the ancients. The Prophesied one. Or am I?'' I was very excited to read a book that covered ''the prophesied one'' trope, but to switch it up.
Spoiler Turns out, this doesn't happen till 50% in the book! 50% of the book still hangs on the fact that she will be the prophesied one, which made me ???????

Anyway, go read this if you like love triangles, friendzoned characters and a semi-whiny female main character. She wasn't whiny throughout the book, but some scenes were just cringe worthy imo :/

I had to read this book for school and....it's so hard to rate. I enjoyed the writing style but man, this book is problematic. I don't feel comfortable writing a review about this book tbh :/
