Neferet's Curse by Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast
4.0
Finally I had time to finish this book.
I need to be honest, when I started reading it, I wasn't really excited about the story. I knew what happened to Neferet, she said it once to Zoey and I actually didn't like her enought to be curious about her story. But after a few pages, a few more than it usual takes me to get into a story, I couldn't stop reading.
Knowing WHAT happened to Neferet is one thing, but
Finding out HOW all the occassions have changed her, is another way more interessting thing.
That was what kept me reading, though.
Finding out how Emily - an innocent little girl, who lost mother, love and hope, who just tried to escape from a world full of hate, pain, violence and captivity - turned into Neferet - a girl, a vampyre, a woman who lost love and hope, who experienced pain and violence, who won self-confidence - was a challenge to read.
I actually feel sorry now for Neferet - something I would've never imagined to say. She is hurt, she tries to make people pay, but she lost herself, again. I can understand how she became that evil person she is now. Wouldn't we all become evil if we had no one to trust?
I actually really want a happy (not evil) end for Neferet. And this is something I would have never said before reading 'Neferet's Curse'.
Must-read!
The story itself is a bit predictable and I have some premonitions about how the series might end.

Okay I picked the book because of the cover ... And when I started reading it I was like "Damn that cover lied to me ..."
But then this gets better and better, the whole thing. It's kind of a "the hunger games meets the bachelor" thing in a "barbie in the princess acadamy" way, but I loved it. (Maybe because I am a hopeless romantic, and after so many dystopian books about war and dead and ...... Let's not go on on this, my heart hurts just wjen I'm reminding myself)
It's a good book for those who like a bit of a complicated but still romantic love story.
And I can't wait for the second one.
So, well done beautiful cover.
Also, for all those who are disappointed with the princess-love-but-not-love-story. The cover is soooo pretty and girly, of course the story must have been to! I was prepares for romantic in a certaim way and I got it even in a better way! Great read, but not for everyone, I guess.
