I started this book hoping to read it throughout the year. Oh, how quickly I gave up that idea when I started reading! This book spans generations. It demonstrates the curiosity we have of family history and how those stories impact us. If you enjoy literary fiction with strong elements of family and community, you will love this book. It is not without its sadness, but it is beautifully and carefully written.

I have never read a book with such a profound demonstration of love and community - romantic love, familial love, platonic love, love for a chosen family and community. It is boundless and endless. If you love character driven books, this is for you. The character development is impeccable, and you finish feeling like you left a piece of your heart with the characters. I can’t recommend this enough. This is easily in my top 3 books of all time.
