The Great Passage by Shion Miura

I wish we'd gotten to know some other characters better
I enjoyed this book a good deal, but I rather wish we had spent more time with Nishioka or Araki instead of the bulk of the time with Majime. Majime was an interesting enough character, but I felt like the structure of the shifting POV would have benefited from some more time spent in the heads of other players in the story.

I'm rehearsing this play right now. My director refers to it as Demented Masterpiece Theater. And I think that's probably the most apt description of it out there. It makes a hard left turn somewhere in the third (proverbial) act, and it's odd. But power through the furrowed-brow phase, the payoff is pretty good.

I read this a while ago, but my recollection is that it started fairly slowly (though compellingly), and then kinda dragged toward the end with a vaguely unsatisfying ending. That said, I do recall enjoying that it was a fairly quick read with characters that I got invested in.
The Flintstones Vol. 1 by Mark Russell

This is fantastic satire and commentary on modern culture in the disguise of a rebooted Flintstones. I loved it, and I'm eager to start vol. 2.
