i really like how holly jackson incorporates heavy but important topics into her ya novels. that she actually shows the reader how fragile pip‘s mental state has gotten because of her two missions. she doesn’t depict her as this supernatural teenager but as someone who has to learn to cope with the trauma she went through.

one of those sequels that truly weren’t needed. follows a weird theme of a young person getting together with someone who’s twice their age and them eventually bringing up a time in their life in which their lover wasn’t even born yet. 
the writing is quite nice though
