Senna Verzus Prost

Malcolm Folley

DID NOT FINISH: 12%

I approached this book expecting an in-depth exploration of the legendary rivalry between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver on that front. While I’m not the biggest fan of Prost, I don’t harbor any dislike towards him either. I simply anticipated a more balanced narrative, especially one that would give equal weight to both sides of their iconic battles.

However, this book seems to lean heavily towards Prost's perspective on Formula 1, with Senna only making appearances in about 20% of the content (as far is I read, because it got boring for me). This wasn’t what I was hoping for, as the title and premise suggested a deeper dive into their intense competition rather than a one-sided view.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The book gradually increased in intensity, but at the end, it all falls apart and takes on a somewhat religious tone. Overall, the book was fine, but the ending could have been darker or more mysterious, as the author usually does
