First book of the year! š„³ Wanted it to be in the PJ universe since the new show just came out on Disney+ (which Iām eating tf up wow is good) Overall this book has been my favorite thus far in the series and makes me so excited to read the 5th book!

- Iām so glad Percy had Tyson he needed a brotherly figure

- I am predicting the Tyson is gonna save Grover or Vice versa and then they wonāt be scared of eachother theyāll be besties
- The fact that Percy didnāt even hesitate when annabeth asked for help with the quest
- Foreshadowing of Percy having to use the hellhound whistle

I have always found the Pagan religion fascinating. Ever since I was little mixing soaps in the bathtub and lighting paper with little things written on them. I always had a wild imagination but growing up and reading about paganism was like a breath of fresh air as an adult. Though I consider myself a baby witch, food magick has always been my safe space. You always feel better after your mom made you a cup of soup when you were sick? And she said it was made with love? Thatās what magic in the kitchen means to me. I have always loved baking goodies or cooking for my friends and family putting my love and happiness into my cooking and seeing their own happiness shine through. This book is expanding on that thought and taught me so much more about magick and cooking with intention.
Thoughts:
- All of the passages about the ancient Sumerians were so interesting I love history and especially cooking history so that was super neat. I feel like the Roman and Greek god worshipping chapters were my favorite.
- I tried the recipes for āavoiding exhaustion spice mixā (that I happily added to my popcorn). And the Healing spell salad dressing after a work out and was thoroughly refreshed.
- The last thing I made was Demeterās Vegetarian Feast with my mom. It was fun bonding time and such a delicious treat.
If you are ever curious about witchcraft, I have to recommend this book. It is perfect for beginners and I love the history aspect. I canāt wait to make more recipes from this book I have annotated it so much! Overall loved this read!

- Why do I ship Catalina and Francis itās so cuteee
- This book also reminds me of the movie ready or not
- Whyyy did she tell them about the sleeping tonic? Like tell them you have no idea what the vial is š LIE
- I wonder if Virgilās life line is tied to Catalinaās in some way and thatās why he said youāve injured her tonight youāve injured me
- I love Francis sm if something happens to my boy Iām about to riot
- Virgil molesting her while she was in the bathtub freaked me the fuck out and made me sick to my stomach
- Okay I really liked the build up and the mystery of this book but all of the sexual assault has made me not like it any more like this wasnāt nessisary to progress the story or have intrigue
