Pain is the second book in The Omaera Playfair Chronicles and an electrifying addition to this RH/Why Choose paranormal romance series. With its mix of intense action, supernatural intrigue, and fiery romance, Natalia Sloan keeps readers hooked with a story that’s equal parts danger, passion, and magic.

Omaera is still adjusting to her new reality—one where she’s bound to three powerful mates for eternity. A bear shifter, a vampire, and a fire mage should be enough to handle, but when her uncle plots to eliminate her and claim the throne, survival becomes the priority. With trust running thin and betrayals looming, the only hope of gaining control over her newfound demonic powers lies in a journey to Hell itself.

Between dodging enemies and uncovering secrets, tension simmers—not just from the dangers that lurk in the shadows, but within her own group. Her mates are at odds, the vampire is hiding something dangerous, and the threat of war looms ever closer. Instead of finding unity and answers in Hell, they face more chaos than ever before. And when a devastating betrayal comes to light, the race to return to Earth becomes urgent before all is lost.

This book is packed with tension—from the steamy, possessive energy between Omaera and her mates to the high-stakes battle for survival. The romance is just as intense as the action, delivering a perfect balance of spice, danger, and emotional depth. Each mate has a distinct personality that adds to the dynamic, and the jealousy, banter, and undeniable chemistry between them make for a thrilling read.

If you love reverse harem, supernatural realms, and fierce heroines who refuse to back down, Pain is a must-read. It’s dark, deliciously steamy, and full of twists that will leave you desperate for the next book. Fans of Jaymin Eve, K.F. Breene, and Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti will devour this one!

Mountain Boss by S.J. Tilly is a swoon-worthy, small-town, grumpy-sunshine romance with all the best tropes—forced proximity, an alpha hero in denial, and a heroine who refuses to back down. Set against the stunning backdrop of Black Mountain Lodge, this book is packed with chemistry, tension, and just the right amount of spice.

Courtney is exhausted—barely scraping by and desperate for a fresh start. When she lands a temporary job at a secluded lodge, she sees it as her chance to rebuild. But her new boss, Sterling, isn’t exactly welcoming. He expected Court, not Courtney, and from the moment she arrives, he’s convinced she’s going to be a problem.

Sterling is a broody, no-nonsense mountain man who doesn’t want distractions. The second he lays eyes on Courtney, he knows she’s exactly that. She’s curvy, gorgeous, and completely off-limits—so naturally, his solution is to push her away. But Courtney isn’t going anywhere, and when she refuses to quit, Sterling is forced to deal with the one thing he was trying to avoid: the undeniable attraction between them.

This book delivers everything you want in a grumpy-sunshine romance. Sterling is the perfect mix of growly and protective, while Courtney’s determination and resilience make her a heroine worth rooting for. Their slow-burn tension, playful banter, and undeniable chemistry make for an engaging read. Add in the forced proximity, small-town charm, and steamy moments, and you’ve got a romance that’s hard to put down.

The pacing keeps you hooked, the setting is beautifully immersive, and the romance is both heartwarming and sizzling. If you love protective, possessive heroes who fall hard and strong heroines who stand their ground, Mountain Boss is a must-read. I can’t wait for the next book in the Mountain Men series!

Reckless Obsession by Deborah Garland is an addictive, high-stakes mafia romance that delivers a perfect blend of tension, obsession, and forbidden love. The story follows Jillian, a curvy, sharp-witted prosecutor determined to take down the Irish Mob. Her mission becomes complicated when she crosses paths with Eoghan O’Rourke, a dangerously charming mob lawyer who also happens to be the brother of the man she’s trying to put away. One reckless night, after a heated confrontation, Jillian makes the impulsive decision to get rid of her V-card with the man she considers her enemy. She assumes it’s a one-time mistake. Eoghan has other plans.

From the moment their night together ends, Eoghan becomes obsessed. He’s possessive, jealous, and unrelenting in his pursuit of Jillian. She’s a prosecutor. He’s a criminal. Their worlds are at odds, and everything about their connection is a terrible idea. But when the Cosa Nostra targets Jillian, Eoghan proves just how far he’s willing to go to protect her, even if it means betraying his own. What begins as a battle of wills soon turns into an intense, all-consuming relationship neither of them can walk away from.

This book delivers on all the best dark romance tropes. Eoghan is the perfect mix of dangerously unhinged and irresistibly charming. His obsession with Jillian is suffocating in the best way, and his willingness to burn the world for her is intoxicating. Jillian is a strong, independent heroine who doesn’t make it easy for him, which makes their dynamic even more electric. The tension, the push and pull, the undeniable chemistry—it all builds into a romance that is as forbidden as it is inevitable.

The pacing is fast, with plenty of action, mafia intrigue, and heart-stopping moments that keep the stakes high. The spice is deliciously well-written, and the emotional depth between Jillian and Eoghan makes the romance feel raw and real. If there’s a downside, it’s that some moments feel a little rushed, particularly in the final conflict, but the overall story is so gripping that it hardly takes away from the experience.

Deborah Garland delivers a dark, dangerous, and utterly enthralling mafia romance with Reckless Obsession. If you love overprotective, obsessive heroes, strong heroines who push back, and a forbidden love story filled with tension and steam, this book is a must-read. Fans of Sophie Lark and J.T. Geissinger will devour it. I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Astoria Royals series.

However, the proximity to Reed, the irresistible and off-limits running back, quickly throws her plans of staying single into turmoil.

Reed is not just another football player. He’s charming, attentive, and utterly determined to break through her defenses. His interest in her is more than just a passing attraction, and their connection grows quickly despite her best efforts to keep things platonic. Kandi Steiner delivers another sizzling sports romance with Save Your Breath, the fourth instalment in her Kings of the Ice series. This novel blends the thrill of professional hockey with the glamour of the music industry, creating an irresistible story packed with emotional depth, slow-burning tension, and undeniable chemistry.

At its core, Save Your Breath explores the classic best-friends-to-lovers and fake engagement tropes, executed with Kandi Steiner’s signature angst and emotional intensity. Mia Love, a pop star facing career turmoil, and Aleksander Suter, the NHL’s notorious bad boy, have been best friends since high school. But when both of their reputations are on the line, they agree to a staged engagement that quickly becomes more complicated than either anticipated. What starts as a mutually beneficial arrangement soon turns into something undeniably real. Mia and Aleks have a history, one brimming with unspoken words and suppressed feelings, and as their past collides with their present, the tension between them escalates. The emotional stakes are high—not just for their careers, but for their hearts.

Mia is a well-crafted heroine—strong, ambitious, and deeply passionate about her music. She’s determined to maintain control over her career, but Aleks is the one person who challenges her in ways no one else can. Aleks, on the other hand, is the perfect mix of brooding, cocky, and secretly vulnerable. His reputation as the league’s bad boy contrasts beautifully with his unwavering devotion to Mia. Their dynamic is electric, with years of friendship forming the foundation for their growing attraction. Their banter is sharp, their chemistry off the charts, and their emotional struggles feel authentic. Aleks isn't just a typical playboy athlete; his layers and emotional depth make him one of the most compelling heroes in the Kings of the Ice series.

Kandi Steiner excels at crafting slow-burn tension that keeps readers hooked. The fake engagement forces Mia and Aleks into close quarters, where every glance and touch blurs the line between pretense and reality. The romance is passionate and heartfelt, filled with moments that make you swoon, hold your breath, and maybe even tear up. The emotional stakes feel high, and the push-and-pull between them keeps the story engaging.

Kandi Steiner’s writing is evocative and smooth, striking a balance between lighthearted moments and deep emotional beats. The pacing is excellent—never dragging but also not rushing through the relationship’s development. The tension builds naturally, making every interaction between Mia and Aleks feel meaningful.

Save Your Breath
is a compelling, steamy, and emotional sports romance that delivers everything fans of the genre love. With its mix of drama, tension, and heart-melting moments, it’s a must-read for anyone who enjoys fake-dating gone wrong (or right), bad boys with a soft spot, and best friends finally taking the leap into love. This book is a perfect blend of tension, passion, and heartfelt romance, making it a standout in the Kings of the Ice series.
