Really annoyingly written. And if it’s this short it should be much more punchy.

I am not one for celebrity memoirs, but this one was surprisingly pleasant. Made me cry a few times, so bonus points.

a relatively short read that can be quick to mindlessly fly through. i would encourage every reader to allow yozo present as a mirror in regard to our tendency to inflate our self-importance as a result of self-flagellation. the narrator can be insufferable at times, but in a very human way. and the second part of the third notebook is simply close to perfection. once yozo started considering the implication of god alongside deprecation, i felt like i had hit something truly insightful.

not his best work, but still poignant and well-written in many ways. some parts feel too contrived and removed from the more raw characters he typically creates.

Just your typical Vietnam War book. Helped me learn a lot for sure, but it is not a masterpiece by any means.
