The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen

I went into this book blind, with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. This was recommended to me by a friend so I thought I’d give it a go.
I didn’t expect to like the characters as much as I do, especially Lara. She’s complex, interesting and conflicted. And the romance in this isn’t cringey, it’s built up pretty nicely. Lots of slow burn, little moments.

I wish there was less secretly pining and more loathing in this enemies to lovers story.
However, I really do like the way Aren was written in this book. Loving the internal conflict.
If this book was 200 pages longer, it probably would’ve been great. We go to too many places and the world building felt rushed and subpar. Politics felt rushed. Too much happening.
Too many characters introduced yet ones we already know don’t get enough time to shine.
Also, not enough Nana
