The book begins with Frederick (Red) who just lost his father and instead of having a moment to grieve he needs to find his sorcerer and do the binding process. Or so he thought because what he thought all his life about the protector behind his father's back is about to change.
Blade of Ash has been a nice story, I really enjoyed the plot, the magic system, some of the characters and the overall pace of the book was just good.
The characters I’ve enjoyed some of them. Red at the beginning and most of the book for me personally was very annoying, he acted like a very young and dumb kid who would blame others for every single thing instead of accepting that sometimes you can’t do much than what’s in your powers, I do wish that in the next book he will grow up because he is an important part of the story and at this moment I’m not his biggest fan.
Seb on the other hand I find him extremely funny and his hate for goats is just hilarious. Alyana felt to be the grown-up in this story, her power, her femminity, and the way she wear herself were just amazing. I loved seeing her powerful even when she was at her weakest.
The relationship between Red and Alyana I wished it would’ve been different, they’re sort of enemies to lovers but at the same time their relationship is built on distrust because even towards the end of the book Red didn’t trust Alyana and still blamed her for his father death – and the way they kind of just slipped in love didn’t quite made sense for me because he was pretty rude towards her. I do hope Red will redeem himself in the next book so we can get a really amazing love story between the two of them.
The magic system was really unique and amazing. The more lies the people would tell the darker their Truthwell will become, the truthful they were the better everything will be and their magic became stronger. The balance between good and bad was so fine that even the biggest sorcerer could fall into temptation.
The book is full of details and descriptions which at times felt a little bit too clunky and overwhelming for me, the read, in general, is very easy and fast-paced. Overall I enjoyed the book and I’ll definitely keep reading the next one.

The way the story began has really swept me from my feet because I love very much stories that take us into a world ruled by creatures other than humans. The story grips you from the very beginning, from the way is being told to the story and the world they’re living in and what the world used to be once upon a time.
I’ve never read Goose Girl the original story so for me, this has been a very nice change in scenery when comes to stories. Each character was very well-written and each one of them has an amazing backstory that will make you get immersed into the story even more.
Brianna and Elyanna from the beginning show us how different they are as characters. Brianna is the lady – in – waiting for Elyanna and she is sweet and caring and wants to learn as much as possible. When Elyanna seems to have an affinity for cruelty against animals and also people. She doesn’t love learning at all and is mean and disrespectful to everyone around her.
Elyanna has been a character that I’ve not enjoyed at all and I am really curious about what the future will bring for her.
Brianna on the other hand is my fave character and I loved the fact I could just connect with her. I loved the fact the story also focuses on some mental issues like PTSD. Brianna went through a very traumatizing event when she was still very young and even now after years she has these flashbacks that hinder her activities or make her panic, but with patience and compassion, she is getting through them more easily now than before. I loved the fact we got to see her struggles and live them with her – appreciating more her development as a character. You can see her grow from day to day and is such a beautiful journey.
The story can also have some minor triggers in my opinion such as the loss of a family and the loss of an animal, these two stories for me weren’t triggering per se but they did make me feel some sort of emotions and feel the feelings the characters felt and also the mood around them.
I’ve definitely enjoyed this story fully, It sucked me in from the very few pages and left me with a very big curiosity on reading the next ones on the trilogy.

The book picks up right where the last one began and that was just the perfect way to begin the book because it didn’t took me long to remember where the last one ended. I just adore when books pick up right where the previous one ended making it easier for me to remember instead of doing a re-read.
The story is being told from the first person which has been enjoyable because I could feel and see what Brianna felt or saw, however, some of her feelings towards different actions just felt flat. I was expecting to feel a little bit more emotional on some circumstances because they were big events, instead the feelings just weren’t there.
The magic system has been mind-blowing for me from the very beginning because it feels it’s so simple but yet so complex. Everyone got some magic in them, some more some less but each one of them can be easily corrupted by the old magic which for me was really intriguing because in the majority of the books the magic helps the people but in this book if one indulges too much into the magic gets corrupted and very bad things happens.
Beside the magical system the book has, it gave me the feeling more than once that humans are so inferior to the animals because the animals are so big, so powerful than the humans and they’re practically ruling most of the territories in the book and makes the people fear them which is to be expected when you’ve got gigantic flying birds that can be used as riders in the sky.
Brianna’s growth on Kingdom of Feathers has been amazing. She’s grown a lot from the shy girl, but in the same time the multitude of events made her loose herself along the way and made her be very close on getting herself “broken”. I’ve hated a little bit at the beginning her way of being reckless, because everyone warned her and tried to help her but her stubbornness has won, but then exactly what broke her has made her grow even more and see that some of her ways weren’t the right ways because she was never alone.
The romance in the book was pretty clean, there’s nothing on-page about their love on the contrary their romance is sweet and very clean and I’ve enjoyed each moment of their times together giving me all the fuzzy feelings.
The world-building was mind-blowing, and I’ve loved all the events taking place into this book and everything just played so smoothly behind my eyes. The adventure this book takes you is pure bliss.
