An amazing true crime novel. You can tell that this case was very well researched by the author and that he took care to make sure that this story was told in the most informative and objective way possible.

I loved this book so much and I only dock it .5 because I almost wish it were longer! I didn’t want it to end!
I loved that, instead of chapters, the book was separated from narrative of the story by anecdotes via testimony, book pages, research findings, etc.
Easily one of my favorite from King!

I could not help but compare my experience reading Jurassic Park while reading this book. Overall, I did enjoy Jaws. However, I feel like Jurassic Park had better scares and more horror. I could have done without the Hooper and Ellen affair…it wasn’t needed.
Jaws did have some successful thrills and scares, but the ending was a let down. I think the movie ending was better and more satisfying.
One thing I did like more than the movie rendition was the moral dilemma plaguing Brody and Vaughn. I feel like the movie skimmed past that and that was a very interesting part of the book.
Would recommend to read, but Michael Crichton did the creature story better (IMHO)

This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. A buddy “cop”, campy vibe with a lot of heart. No matter what side of the aisle you’re on, you cannot deny that this book is just plain fun. Totally absurd, but so much fun! Already bought book 2

I really enjoyed this book - not that I didn’t expect I wouldn’t. I love the movie adaptation and the tv adaptation already, this was just a cherry on top.
What I really liked was that there were little bits of information, like bread crumbs, sprinkled little by little throughout the story before the “big reveal”. If I were reading this without prior knowledge of the previous adaptations, I would have been shook with the revelation.
It was fast paced and the perfect length of story - not too long and not too short. The only thing I didn’t care for was how exposition heavy the last chapter was. It just kind of dumped the motive, backstory, etc. within the last few pages and seemed there to explain to the audience what was going on rather than let the reader come to that conclusion. Other than that, highly recommend the read.

I have been wanting to read this book for so long and I’m glad I finally read it. I read about 50% and listened to 50% on audible and found that I was able to read this rather quickly.
If you have heard about this story and/or seen the movies, you are obviously at least a little familiar with the story of the Lutz family and their brief time spent at 112 Ocean Ave. The book is way creepier than I expected and left me very uneasy in multiple sections.
If you are looking for a creepy haunted house story and a quick read, I highly recommend this book!
