Read trigger content warnings! At the beginning before the book starts there is brief mention that this is about drug use/addiction.
I think this author is quickly becoming one of my fave ya authors. This story was heavy. I have also been in a car accident, also was prescribed oxy, also felt so much pain, also touched the areas my screws/pins were placed, also had a mental health hit because of the accident and injuries, but I was lucky that I didn't have that feeling of relief and need that Mickey, and other characters, experienced. I also know people who are recovering from various drug/alcohol addictions. Addiction is hard and recovery is hard. Many points in the book made me nervous and worried for the outcome of the characters. I really couldn't put this down it was so engrossing for me. I liked the ending because it showed real consequences of addiction and how important a support system is.
The very end of the book had resources for those who might need help as well which was nice.

Another banger💯 I can't stop saying this is my favorite manga recently (I've been out of the manga game for years 😂). Just so feel good even when it's a little sad. I cannot wait for the next vol to be released and available through my library. The little sneak peek at the end really got me excited.

Just so some people know, there is political discussion in this book, which I personally liked but was not expecting. I liked tying in the belief of cryptids to political/socioeconomic landscapes. As a cryptid fan, it is definitely interesting that most of or at least the prominent cryptid fans/believers are white (you see very little minority cryptid fans but we're out here!) and potentially why that is the way it is.
This wasn't exactly what I was expecting going into the book which isn't necessarily bad but def affected how I rated it. It was more heavily on politics and less on actual bigfoot mythos than I was expecting. I did appreciate the mentions of covid and all the indigenous names/locations/mentions and the discussion on the environment and although this book wasn't written or released this year, many of the political discussions are still applicable today with trump being reelected and seeing what we saw in 2016 come back at an even higher/escalated/bigger level.

There are def better stories than others in here. My favorites were "a guidebook for the newly sired desi" since it talks about colonialism and I love seeing non-white vampires and "the house of black sapphires" also because of the non-white vampires and alludes to colonialism as well. Like I would read novellas of both of those. The other stories didn't really stand out as much to me.

Still would really prefer not reading/hearing the r word. Super unnecessary. But otherwise kind of cringe kind of entertaining. Check some trigger/content warnings tho.

Holy shit I loved this. The little quip on the cover about it being Heathers meets Albert Camus is definitely fitting. This kept me engaged and wanting to know how everything progressed.
Troubled middle school boys turned to killers, a mother seeking revenge for the death of her little girl, and an explosion all made for an interesting book. The characters were interesting, whether you liked them or hated them, and made you want to know what was going to happen to them next. This was really just right up my alley. I need more from this author if she continues to write interesting stuff like this!

It was pretty good, entertaining, but not a fave. Nothing super memorable for me. Might check out the 2nd one might not.

I can't believe I've blitzed through reading so many of these volumes 😭 this was also very good. Glad to see the kitty they rescued get a name and a home. Loved also seeing Kanda's budding social media presence and friendship 😂 Twinkle Bell is a great name 😂

This one read so fast😭 I def cried like...a lot. Such a good volume. Fukumaru really is quite the diplomat.
Still hate Kanda's mom. She's just so selfish. But I'm glad Suzune's (Kanda's wife) dad is so lovely.

I can't believe how quickly I've been reading this series 😭 another great volume. There are once again sad moments but also moments of heart warmth. Loved to see Fukumaru be the big brother and take care of/care for all the little scrubbies even if it took him a little bit to get used to them.
Very interested in what will happen with Hoshinari and Teruaki. I can make a pretty good guess, but I'll keep that to myself and read the next volume to see if it's a correct guess!
