The Thing in the Snow by Sean Adams

3.5? This was a 4 until the last 3rd of the book. I love the deep feelings of unease & dread I had while reading this. I was unsettled constantly. However I felt the last 3rd resolved a lot of the tension & answered questions that would have served the story better to remain unanswered. I really enjoyed the writing & odd characters, & hope there will be a 2nd book.
We Could Be Rats by Emily Austin

I devoured this in one sitting. The format is unique & raw & I loved it. The themes, the depth of the characters, the whole thing was just done so well. This made me want to hug my sister, who ironically, calls me ratbag.
Anything is Possible by Elizabeth Strout
4.0
Elizabeth Strout has such a talent for hitting so hard in such a succinct way. I am never prepared for the depth of her books when I start them. I loved the interconnectedness here, and am excited to continue the series!
Please Report Your Bug Here by Josh Riedel

I generally liked this. I liked the writing style & the descriptions of SF & the Bay Area. I was pretty confused by the portal/technology/etc & had a hard time understanding what was going on. However, I liked the storylines about the absurdity of Silicon Valley tech culture, which kept me engaged. Easy, enjoyable read, although a bit muddled on the weird technology part of the storyline.
Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch by Henry Miller

If I ever win billions of dollars in the lottery I will be moving to Big Sur. It is one of my favorite places on the planet. How lucky are we to get to read Miller’s insights while living there!
Foxfire: Confessions of a Girl Gang by Joyce Carol Oates
4.0
I loved this book - I love books about complex female friendships and how intense those bonds are. I loved the story and how just generally cool the girls all were. This almost made me nostalgic for my youth, despite the fact I was never in a girl gang. The only thing I struggled with was the writing style - it rambles and is very 'stream of consciousness' which confused me at some points. Foxfire burns & burns!!!!!
The Wedding People by Alison Espach

3.5 - This was fun! I liked the complex, tangled relationships through the book. I loved the cover too. I had a hard time with some of the characters and found the pacing a little odd, but overall a wholesome read.
The Nude: A Novel by C. Michelle Lindley

I liked this, but I'm not entirely sure why. I liked the writing style and descriptions. It was much slower paced than I expected, and relatively predictable. This made me miss Greece so badly!
