This was odd. I don't know what it was about, but I enjoyed the vibes.

This was fun! I loved the concept, the world building, & the characters. I was invested through the whole book & just found the whole thing so interesting! I’m super unsure of where the series is going to go - I feel like thie first book could have been a standalone. Excited to continue 👀

2.5 - This was a really cool concept for a book, but I think it was just a little too long. I had a hard time staying engaged. I am also not a huge fan of multiple POVs and there are a lot in this novel. The plot also felt pretty loose, and I didn't know where it was going until the last 3rd of the book. I enjoyed the pacing and the writing, but I just had a hard time staying interested through its entirety.

I didn’t like any of the characters & had a hard time visualizing what was going on.

I loved how beautifully written this story was. I was swept into the story pretty much immediately due to the writing alone. I love the intricacies of the relationships in this story - not only the MCs, but of everyone, whether it was friendship, family, work, or more. Forgiveness and acceptance were main themes, and I love how complex the topics are. The characters were all so well done and I was equally interested in all of them. If anything, read this one for the beautiful writing alone!

sharp & depressing read about an angsty teen getting in trouble. I struggled with the writing style but really enjoyed the MC.

First, Huang's writing is beautiful as always. I love her writing style and how she immerses the reader in the story. However, I struggled a little with this one. The pacing felt extremely fragmented and slow. The world this story is set in is extremely complicated world, and little was explained. I would have liked more context on both the society and the tech. I really enjoyed the themes here, but also felt that there were so many it was hard to focus on all of them. Overall, this was a good read but I felt I was missing a lot of context.

Thank you to Dutton and NetGalley for the ARC.

I always enjoy Danielle Vega’s books, & definitely had fun with this one. I will say it was less engaging than her other books & I was able to predict this one a little easier than the others. This was still a cool concept & fun book!

I went into this unsure if it was story I would connect with, and ended with teary eyes. I love messy family dynamics and sibling relationships, and this book delivers on both. It's super easy to read and is wholesome without being cheesy. However, it still has lots of depth and I enjoyed how each of the characters interacted. The complicated dynamics of family were captured extremely well and I really enjoyed it.
