I really enjoyed this slow burn mystery. It was just as much about the magic of childhood & growing up as about the mystery of the man in the lake. I loved the characters & reading about all their adventures.

I found this book really interesting. I enjoyed the heavy themes of technology, privacy, risk, and the prison system. It's interesting timing for this book to come out as more companies are heavily investing in AI that can have a high error rate without proper testing, usage, and oversight. The MC was a little irritating to me, but I still felt for her. I found her relationship with her husband worthy of a bit more exploration than we get in the book. I would have liked a bit more depth to the dream company - I was really interested in those pieces, but we only get a short few scenes. Part of what makes this novel extra bleak is that the premise is not that far off from our reality, which really drove home the despair the MC feels. Highly recommend this one to any sci-fi/dystopian fans!

No one, and I mean NO ONE creates a vibe like Agustina Bazterrica. I felt like I was physically at the dirty, creepy convent while reading this. I was immediately hooked into this bizarre dystopian world and extremely curious about our narrator. I was very invested the entire time in part due to the insane characters and the bleak atmosphere. While other reviewers disliked the vagueness, I liked the mystery and had no problem feeling entangled in the story. Highly recommend this one for my horror and dystopian fans!

Thank you to Scribner and NetGalley for the ARC.

Wait I fully loved this. I went in blind & with honestly low expectations, & enjoyed every part of this book. I loved the characters, I loved that it was set in Idaho which made it easy to imagine. I appreciated that this book was not preachy about teen pregnancy & pregnancy options. It just followed the plot & never got political. It was a great read. I love a good YA novel!!

This read like some blacked out girl rambling to you as you’re trying to escape her & get back to your friends at the bar.

The writing was poor & needed editing. There was very little depth or introspection. The whole thing felt very flat.

Hmm not sure how to rate this one. I simultaneously did and didn't enjoy it. It's a unique plot with interesting characters. But it also gave me PTSD to my undergrad philosophy classroom, where every guy in there thought he was the funniest and smartest guy in the room. I felt like a lot of the interesting stuff was briefly brushed over and the less interesting stuff was honed in on. Overall, decent read but not as captivating as I would have liked.
