The Contemplative Heart by James Finley

Fantastic, heartfelt book on contemplation. There is a big chapter on how to meditate that gives simple direction. But the book explains more than that. I'd say that he tells us in truth why we meditate and what is going on when we do. His examples and stories are enlightening and gentle. I have new hope and understanding of something that has been so problematic for me. This book is the voice of humble experience.

I especially enjoyed reading the background stories in the families of Landon and Jessie. This has been such a good series and I'm happy to hear there is more to come.

There is graphic, scary violence in this book, but there is also a lot of goodness that made the book worth reading for me.

An easy to understand book about ridding oneself of illusions and finding love and happiness. I love De Mello's simple language and rich examples. There are many exercises along the way in the reading and a section of them at the back of the book.

I enjoyed reading 1 or 2 little stories in the author's life at night before bed to put my mind on a positive note. Each one was 2-3 pages long.
