I love these books. I love HappyHead and Dead Happy and I know I will love everything Josh Silver writes from here on out.
This duology was such a breath of fresh air - something new and thrilling, that tackled mental health (happy) headfirst, in all its complexities and ugliness and beauty.
Seb and Finn are all that a YA power-couple needs to be - relatable and smart, devoted and strong.
Silver's writing keeps the story at a brisk pace, and whilst the rhythm of the book moves at a thousand miles an hour, he never forgets to foreground the characters in every single moment. You understand these people, their struggles, their fears, their darkness - and yet he finds a way to make you love them regardless of their flaws.
A thrilling plot, fast writing, and a great cast of characters. What more can you want? As Silver writes, sometimes "that's all there is."
