Fine concept but feel like the authors went overboard with calling the natives “savages” and making numerous statements about how the bad guys “like pretty young girls” or “at least get to grab the pretty young girl” when speaking about a literal child. Readers can understand that pirates are bad without throwing child predation into the mix, especially in a kids book. Completely unnecessary.

What a whirlwind. Read it in a day. A completely fascinating and engrossing tale, a whole vacation and life story and insight to a generation all rolled into a drug-fueled adventure. Delightful.

A fun adventure, just wish he would write women characters like they're people. A bit too much of "wow, this girl is hot AND smart AND into tech, I didn't know they existed!" Took me out of the storyline every time.

What a beautiful book, right when I needed it. A powerful reminder to see ourselves right where we are. Existing is enough, so drink some tea and take a look around - you've got time.
