I was so giddy reading this book! I felt like I could totally relate to the main characters! And honestly does it get better than childhood friends with secret crushes too scared to ruin the friendship fake dating and a dual POV so you can see how in love the MMC is? No I don’t think it gets much better than that

I had mixed feelings about this book. I have no complaints about the storytelling or characters. I enjoyed both but I just could not connect with the story. There were some major stand out moments that I loved (ahem that guilty as sin part whew!) but I just spent most of my time reading but not connecting to the story. With that being said I will totally read another book by the author! Some stories just aren’t meant for everyone

This is such a feel good read! This book feels like a mashup of Miss Congeniality and The Bodyguard (RIP Whitney Houston). Theres a nice mix of hijinks and drama to keep interesting but still lighthearted enough to keep you smiling the whole time

Check your trigger warnings this book hits some HEAVY topics. There is so much talk about loss (seriously so much loss in this book) grief and mental health but it also has so much hope, strength, black love and excellence that it is truly a beautiful read.

This is a truly rare experience for me I’m not sure I have ever in my life preferred a movie or show to the book but there’s a first for everything. I prefer the Netflix series the Colin Penelope love story is just more believable on screen

I’ve been on a romance and romcom book kick so that may be skewing my perception here. This book was an easy read but I’m not sure it will be memorable

500+ pages for a romance seems long until you meet JULIAN LÓPEZ ugghh this man is the real deal so much so that the Mexican mother of our FMC is rooting for him. “That man would rather hurt himself before putting you in harm’s way” (swoon) Lopez men are built different and this man was no exception. His devotion to his family, business, and our FMC is what dreams are made of. He goes from family childhood friend to rival to love of your life so effortlessly. He is hot, believes in our FMC, & pushes her to be her fiery self. And then there is Dahlia our FMC. I think we can all relate to her story. She settled for a guy who spent years dimming her light only to leave her for not being herself. She goes home and slowly but surely remembers who she is. Julian loves her back to her fiery self by pushing her out of her comfort zone and reminding her of her strength. They make a perfect duo and a perfect romance

This book is such a feel good rom com! I got blissfully lost in the slow burn romance between Annie and Will. Their chemistry, the storyline pacing, the brewing & just overall tenderness between them made this a perfect rom com for me
