Witches aren't very well-liked in this universe. And Iris HATES her coworker Pike. So when she makes a curse for him, and it accidentally ends up in an owl, she must race to find the injured owl or it will wreak havoc on the entire community.
The good: I love Griffin's witchy lore and universes. She crafts really fun powers for these witches and always focuses on a connection to nature. I liked the rivals to lovers plotline as well.
The meh: I think this was filled with characters when I wanted a little more plot. All in all, they spent a lot of time hiking and going to and from locations. Also, I kind of hated Pike, don't know why. Compared to her other books, this one fell a little bit flat. An animal dies and I was very upset about it too.
The verdict: You will like this if you like witches, animal connection powers, rivals to lovers, animals in general, nature and the PNW.

The good: The rep in this book is fun, everyone is very intersectional in nature.
The meh: I'm sorry, I just could not get behind this relationship. Henry was so sweet and tortured, and Alex was just rude all the time. I found him pretty insufferable throughout the whole book. Obviously a gay relationship shouldn't bring down someone's election campaign, but I just kept being like YOU'VE BEEN TOGETHER A FEW MONTHS when they kept saying "this is forever" and possibly losing his mom the election when there was a horrible guy on the ticket. I just couldn't suspend my disbelief at the irresponsibility given how short their relationship was. Maybe I'm just not a romantic. The book also really dragged at times. Also, I kept getting mad at how often they were flying in private jets lol go domestic and save the environment a bit.
The verdict: You'll like this if you enjoy queer rep, secret relationships, enemies to lovers, international politics, POTUS, the crown, and grief.

The banter between the characters was otherworldly as usual with Emily Henry, and I loved their relationship. Their personalities were fun to explore and see together. I wanted them to get together so bad and was really rooting for them the whole time.
The meh: I really have no complaints about this book! It hit every mark for me.
